AL former MP Khan Tipu Sultan dies

Former Awami League lawmaker and a valiant freedom fighter Khan Tipu Sultan died at a hospital in the capital on Saturday night. He was 68.

He is survived by his wife and two sons to mourn his death, family sources said.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit of Central Hospital as he suffered a stroke three days ago. 

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her profound shock at the death of the valiant freedom fighter and former AL lawmaker. 

Khan Tipu Sultan was elected MP thrice from Jessore-5 constituency on Awami League ticket in 1991, 1996 and 2008. 

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 11:00am on Sunday, second one on the premises of the Supreme Court after zuhr prayers, third one at Jessore town after asr prayers and fourth one at Monirampur after maghrib prayers. 

He will be buried at his native Dhamalia village under Dumuria upazila in Khulna.
