BNP trying to create distance between judiciary, executive: Quader

Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said that BNP was trying to create distance between judiciary and executive to save their leaders from conviction and sentence.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges minister, at a spontaneous press conference at Dhanmandi office of AL president Sheikh Hasina as a reaction to the press conference of BNP leaders, said that BNP had been conspiring on the issue on Appellate Division verdict that scrapped the 16th amendment to the constitution.
‘BNP leader Tarique Rahman has already been punished and party chairperson Khaleda Zia is on the verge of punishment on charge of embezzlement of funds of Zia Charitable Trust. In this situation, BNP is trying to create distance between judiciary and executive to save their leaders,’ said Quader.
According to Quader, prime minister Sheikh Hasina did not say anything against the judiciary. Every citizen of the country can make constructive criticism of any verdict.
AL presidium member Abdul Matin Khasru, central leader Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Sujit Roy Nandi and others were present.
