Mild cold wave may continue over 3 divs

The ongoing mild cold wave may continue in Khulna, Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions for two to three more days as the overall cold situation improved across the country, met officials said on Monday.
They said moderate to thick fog was sweeping across the country and it might continue.
Thick fog disrupted flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia and Shimulai-Khathalbari routes on M3onday, causing sufferings to thousands of passengers.
Mild cold wave is sweeping over Khulna, Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions and at some places of Tangail and Faridpur.
Minimum temperature of the country was recorded Monday at 7.8 degrees Celsius at Rajarhat in Rangpur division.
Meteorologist Nazmul Haque of Bangladesh Meteorologist Department told New Age that such mild cold wave might continue over the three regions for the next two to three days.
He said another spell of mild cold wave is likely to begin in the last week of January, but the temperature may be above 10 degree Celsius until the next cold spell. 
Met office said moderate to thick fog was continue across the country and it might occur during midnight to Tuesday morning and continue at places up to noon. 
Thick fog disrupted flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, reports United News of Bangladesh. 
Rezaul Karim, public relations officer at Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, said that the flight operations at the airport were suspended at 5:50am due to poor visibility due to dense fog.
He said the flight operations at the airport resumed around 10:20am after the disappearance of fog.
Several domestic flights, including that of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, could not take off and one flight from Singapore was diverted to Chittagong airport during the period, Karim said, adding that a Chittagong-bound flight of Biman ‘BG011’ left the airport around 10:20am.
New Age correspondent in Munshiganj reported that due to thick fog, the ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari river route on Padma was suspended for eight hours from 2:00am to 10:00am on Monday.
Besides, six ferries were stranded in the mid-river due to lack of visibility.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation deputy general manager Kaled Newaz Khan said the ferry services resumed after 10:00am eight hours of suspension due to thick fog.
Over 300 vehicles got stuck on approach road to the ferry terminal due to the disruption.
New Age correspondent in Manikganj reported that the ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia river route was suspended for seven hours from 3:30am to 10:30am on Monday due to dense fog.
Besides, four ferries with passengers and vehicles got stuck in the mid-river while seven ferries were stranded at Paturia and five others anchored at Daulatdia ferry point for hours.
More than 600 vehicles got stuck on roads at Paturia and Daulatdia. 
BIWTC manager at Aricha point Nasir Mohiuddin said that the fog increased with night falling.
Dense fog covered the entire waterways, forcing them to suspend ferry services to avoid accident.
