No provision of supportive govt in constitution, PM tells JS

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday told Jatiya Sangsad that according to the country’s constitution there is no provision of forming government like ‘supportive government’.

Replying to a starred question of treasury bench member Tanvir Imam, the prime minister in a scripted answer said the highest law of Bangladesh is its constitution.

She said it could be found through reviewing history that BNP was never in favour of continuation of democratic trend, Sheikh Hasina said.

So presently they are now demanding unconstitutionally for ‘supportive’ government which the prime minister said is not acceptable in anyway.

Hasina said her government would always uphold the democracy.  ‘So we will not accept any government system contrary to the constitution, ‘ she said.

The prime minister said she during delivering her address to the nation sated for election- time government that means she said according to the Article 126 of the constitution, the Election Commission will perform its responsibility and the size of the government would be small.

Hasina said the election time government would only conduct routine activities, would not adopt any policy decision.
