RAPE IN BUS Five to be quizzed for 3 days

A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted police three days to question five suspects, who were reportedly held for raping a 24-year-old female garment worker on a moving bus of Jatriseba Paribahan at Dhamrai in Dhaka. 
The five were caught by a patrol team of the Dhamrai police at Cosmos area of Dhamrai after the law enforcers chased after the bus for several kilometres on the Dhaka-Paturia Highway on Sunday. 
Dhamrai police station inspector Zakaria Hossain, also the investigating officer of the case, on Tuesday afternoon said Abdul Aziz, 25, son of Jasim Uddin of Deokhola under Phulbari in Mymensingh, Babu Mallick, 24, son of Shafi Mallick of village Kotapara under Chuadanga Sadar, Balaram, 20, son of Mohor Lal of Sarkarbari under Dimla in Nilphamari, Md Sohel Rana, 20, son of Kalu Mia of village Goail under Dhamrai in Dhaka, and Mokbul Hossain, 40, son of Raju Sardar of village Kelia under Dhamrai in Dhaka would be questioned in police custody. 
Dhaka court of senior judicial magistrate Atikul Islam accepted the interrogation plea, but allowed it for three days instead of seven days demanded by the police.
Dhamrai police assistant sub-inspector Dinesh Ghosh said the bus had three staff on Sunday night while two other transport workers got on the bus from Shrirampur.
The victim became the lone passenger after the other passengers got off in their destinations. 
Later, the bus staff closed the doors and windows of the bus, tied her hands and mouth and raped her, he said.
A patrol team of Dhamrai police, led by sub-inspector Bhajan Roy, hearing the scream of a woman on the bus chased it and eventually caught the five suspects at about 11:30pm and rescued the victim. 
The victim lodged a case with Dhamrai police station on Monday.
