BNP criticises AL’s mockery over jailed Khaleda’s illnesses

Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Monday came down hard on the ruling Awami League leaders for mocking the party’s jailed chairperson Khaleda Zia’s ‘illness’.

The party refuted the Awami League claim saying Khaleda was jailed by ‘prime minister’, not by ‘court’.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the remarks at a news briefing at the party central office.

Rizvi said Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader stated that Khaleda’s personal physicians made false statement about her illness and doubt would also remain over treatment certificate of ‘Jatiyatabadi physicians’.

The BNP leader wondered if people should not take treatment from anyone if he or she is not a pro-Awami League physician.

‘Khaleda is not jailed by court, she is jailed but by the prime minister,’ he added.
