Eight killed in road accidents

At least six construction workers were killed and 28 others injured in separate road accidents in Kalihati and Ghatail upazilas of Tangail on Monday.
In Mymensingh, two unidentified people were killed on the spot and four people were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Muktagachha. 
New Age correspondent in Tangail reports: five construction workers were killed and 25 injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch at Saturia bridge in Kalihati upazila around 5:30am.
Three of the deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 35, son of Ibrahim Bepari, of village Padmi Shahar of Saghata, Saidur Rahman, 33, son of Abdur Rahim, of village Pashchim Ghatgachhi, of Phulchhari and Abul Kalam, 28, son of Md Abdul, of Mirpur in Gaibandha. 
Kalihati police station officer-in-charge Mir Mosharraf Hossain said the construction workers were going to Sylhet from Gaibandha on the reserved truck. 
In Ghatail, another construction worker was killed on the spot and three more were injured as a pick-up van overturned at Moglapara area in the morning. 
The deceased was identified as Khalilur Rahman, 35, son of late Moyna Rahman and resident of Shang Dubail area of Gopalpur upazila in Tangail.
Ghatail police sub-inspector Sekendar Ali said the construction workers were going to Hamidpur from Ghatail with a concrete-mixer on the pick-up van that fell into a roadside ditch after one of its wheels got punctured.
One critically injured was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, he added.
New Age correspondent in Mymensingh reports that a Rajib Paribahan bus on Jamalpur-Dhaka route collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw at Satrasia area around 1:00pm. 
The injured were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
