Govt must face trial for not accepting 7-point: Kamal

Jatiya Oikya Front leader Dr Kamal Hossain today warned that the ruling Awami League must face trial in future if it did not ensure fair elections under a neutral government as per the seven-point demand of the front.

‘Accept the seven-point demand immediately or you will have to face trial in future,’ the Gono Forum president warned the government at a rally in Chattogram city Saturday afternoon.

Criticising the government for not allowing the front to hold its rally at Laldighi Maidan in the port city, Kamal said that the government would need to face trial for this also, as the decision caused sufferings to the people.

The newly formed opposition political alliance on Saturday began its second rally in Chattagrom city pressing for its seven-point demands including resignation of the incumbent government and formation of poll-time neutral government discussing with all political parties.

Leaders and activists of the front particularly of its component Bangladesh Nationalist Party started to gather with processions at the rally venue on Noor Ahmed Road at Kazir Dewri in front of Chattogram city BNP office from around 11:30 am.

Oikya Front top leader Kamal Hossain will address the rally as chief guest, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as main speaker.

The rally presided over by Chattogram city BNP president Shahdat Hossain started around 1:30 pm.

Law enforcers including police and RAB were deployed at different points near the meeting venue.

Vehicular movement was stopped on one side of the Noor Ahmed Road for the rally from 1:00 pm.
