23 killed in four days

At least 23 people were either killed or found dead in separate incidents across the country during Eid holiday.
Among them, five were killed in capital, four in Noakhali, three in Pabna, two each in Shariatpur, Habiganj and Barisal.
In Noakhali, three brothers were hacked to death by rivals at Kazinagar village in Sonaimuri upazila on Sunday over previous enmity, said district police superintendent Ilias Sharif.
The deceased were identified as Harun, 38, Kamal, 34, and Babul, 23, sons of Maksud Ullah of the same village.
Morshed, younger brother of the deceased, said Goalm Maola, Saddam, Amir and Anowar, all hailing from the same village, beat and hacked the trio indiscriminately with sharp weapons while they were playing football in a local play ground, leaving Harun and Bablu dead on the spot and Kamal critically injured.
Kamal was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
In another incident, a local leader of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal was shot dead at Batagram of Sonaimuri upazila on Saturday.
The victim was identified as Habib 27, son of Suja Mia of the area, said Haniful
Islam OC of Sonaimuri Police.
In Shariatpur, the police recovered the bodies of two newborn babies from in front of District Civil Surgeon Office in the town on Monday.
Utpal Biswas, a sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, said local people spotted the bodies, kept in a bag, around 12:00pm and informed police.
Police later recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
In the capital, an honours first year student of mathematics in Dhaka University was found hanging from ceiling fan with scurf in his room around 1:00am on Friday.
He was identified as Shahed Reza Piyas, son of Shah Abbas, of Rupnagar area.
Abbas said his son went in outing on Eid day and return in the night. But he was spotted hanging from ceiling fan around 1:00am.
In Uttara, an advocate, Azharul Islam, was found hanging from grill in his room around 11:30am on Monday, said his wife Beauty Begum.
Azharul was a lawyer in Gazipur Judge Court. They were resident of sector 13 of Uttara.
Azharul’s brother-in-law Iqbal Hossain said there was quarrel between his sister and brother-in-law over marrying another woman.
In Mirpur, a young couple allegedly hanged themselves from the ceiling of their house in the city’s Mirpur area on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Farhad, 27, a barber and his wife Rupali, 22, said inspector (investigation) Shafiqur Rahman of Mirpur Police Station.
In Turag, a man was hacked to death allegedly by his son on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Abul Hashem, 45, of Baunia in Turag, said Hashem’s son-in-law, Masud Rana.
In Patuakhali, a man was chopped to death at Botolbunia bazar of sadar upazila on Friday.
The victim was identified as Masud Matbor, 30, of nearby Itbaria village under the same upazila and son of freedom fighter Aiub Ali Matbar, said S M Tariqul Islam, OC of Patuakhali police.
In Gaibandha, an alleged member of banned Islamic outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh was shot to death by unidentified miscreants at Mamudpur village in Saghata upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Fazle Rabbi, son of Sadikas Ali, a resident of Basantapara in the upazila, said OC of Saghata police, Rafiqul Islam.
In Habiganj, Two people were killed and 50 others were injured in a clash between two villagers in Habiganj on Sunday morning, said the district assistant superintendent of police, Sajjadur Rahman.
The deceased were Kadam Ali, son of Mona Mia, and Bakul Mia, son of Sayed Mia of Tegharia village.
In Sylhet, A young housewife was hacked to death by miscreants at Daulatpur village in Bishwanath upazila in the district on Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Sujina Begum, 19, wife of UK expatriate Murad Ahmed, of Satal village in the upazila, said Bishwanath Police OC, Rafiqul Islam.
In Barisal, a dead body of an unidentified youth recovered from Kirtankhola River Bed near Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabad Bridge area of Monday afternoon, said Shakhawat Hossain, OC of Kotwali police.
In another incident, a boarder of a hotel in Barisal town died after falling from 5th floor of the hotel on early Monday, said Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station officer-in-charge.
The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain Shikdar, 31, son of Aftab Hossain Shikdar of Fishery Road under Airport police station of Barisal.
Police arrested his roommate, Sumon, and hotel manager, Milon, in this connection.
In Sirajganj, police recovered the body of a man from a pond near Ullapara Railway Station in Ullapara upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shafique, 37, son of Samaj Ali of Nayangati village in Sadar upazila
of the district, said OC of Ullapara police, Tajul Huda.
In Pabna, a man was stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbours over gambling at Masimpur village in Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Munser Ali, 47, son of late Ayen Uddin Sheikh of the village, said sadar police OC, Ahsanul Haque.
In another incident, a CNG driver was chopped to death beside Jamuna River on Thursday evening. He was missing from the morning.
The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain, 22, son of Kalu Sardar of village Jagannathpur in Bera upazila, said OC of Aminpur police, Jasim Uddin.
In another incident, Chatmohar police recovered the body of housewife from her bedroom at village Ratanpur on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Keya Khatun, 40, wife of Khanna Pramanik of the village Ratanpur, said Chatmohor police OC, Subrata Kumar Sarkar.
He said the family of the victim went on hiding after the incident.
In Gopalganj, a man died of grave injuries inflicted by his relatives, who chopped off his arms and gouged out his eyes over a land dispute in Gopalganj on Saturday.
Limbs of the deceased Tuhin Molla’s father Shawkat Molla were severed in the attack at Char Pathalia of Gopalganj Sadar around 9:00pm on Saturday, said Gopalganj SP SM Emran Hossain.
