Obaidul due for bypass surgery next week: BSMMU director

Physicians at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore were taking preparations to conduct a bypass surgery on ailing Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader next week.
‘Obaidul has been moved from the intensive care unit to a cabin at the hospital this morning after his condition saw further improvement. He is being fed a liquid diet,’ Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University director Doctor Abu Naser Rizvi, who was accompanying the ailing politician, said on Wednesday morning, according to a press release received.
Earlier, Doctor Sivathasan Cumaraswamy, cardiothoracic surgeon at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital, apprised his family members of the latest update on Obaidul’s condition.
Obaidul’s wife Isratunnesa Quader and Bangladesh high commissioner to Singapore Mostafizur Rahman were present at the time.]\
