A fire that broke out at shops of scrap dealers at Lane 6 of Shahidnagar at Lalbagh in the capital on Saturday night was doused after one hour.
The fire started at a shop at Jagannath Shaha Road around 9:40pm and eight fire-fighting units extinguished it at 10:40pm, said Md Abdul Ali, deputy assistant director of fire service and civil defence.
No casualties were reported.
At least 12 to 14 corrugated- sheets-roofed shops of scrap dealers, bangles factory and CNG-run auto-rickshaw workshops were bunt completely and the gas cylinders installed there remained intact, he said.
