Mother, daughter, son found dead in city

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police found bodies of a widow, her son and daughter in their rented house at Uttarkhan in Dhaka Sunday evening.
The local people identified the deceased as Jahan Ara Mukta, 48, her son Muhib Hasan Rocky, 28, who recently took BCS preliminary examination, and daughter Tasfiya Sultana Meem, 20, who was physically challenged.
They were from Kishoganj. Jahan Ara’s husband Ikbal Hossain died earlier.
The bodies of Jahan Ara and Tasfiya were found in a bed while Muhib’s was lying on the ground of the one-storey rented house at Moynartek, police officials said.
‘The main door was closed from inside and we broke open the door to recover the bodies,’ said Uttara police additional deputy commissioner Hafizur Rahman.
He said that no indication of breaking windows was found but they found a chit kept under a mobile phone in the living room.
Hafizur said that it read, ‘Our fate and negligence from our relatives are responsible for our situation. Please donate our properties to the poor after our deaths.’
Local people informed the police after smelling odour from the house, he said, adding, ‘We are examining all the circumstances to determine the cause of the deaths.’
They suspected that they died at least two days ago.
The Uttarkhan police station inspector (investigation) Khandaker Nasir Uddin said that the family rented the house few weeks ago.
The police officials said they were waiting for morgue assistants to handle the almost decomposed bodies to see whether the bodies bore any marks of injuries.
