Ershad’s condition stable: Quader

Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad was now responding to the call of the relatives and doctors at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital, said JP acting chairman GM Quader while briefing the press at Ershad’s Banani office on Tuesday.

He said that he visited the ailing chairman at the  hospital in the morning and found his health condition stable.

He said Ershad was not on life support but was getting ‘oxygen under pressure’ for every two hours as he was facing breathing problems.

Quader, Ershad’s younger brother, said that the CMH doctors had told him that their leader was showing a positive sign as his condition seemed stable.

‘The doctors prescribed him many diagnoses,’ he said.

Quader also urged everybody to pray for the ailing JP chairman Ershad and pleaded with all not to spread any rumours. Quader also asked the press to rely only on ISPR briefing or JP party briefing.

The health minister Zahid Malik, however, after visiting Ershad at CMH on Monday night, said that he was put on life support.

The 89-year-old former military dictator, now leader of the opposition, Ershad has been ill for quite some time and was admitted to the CMH on June 22.

He has been suffering from low haemoglobin count and liver complications.
