1.35 lakh Yaba tablets seized at Teknaf

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 1.35 lakh pieces of contraband Yaba tablets at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar early Saturday.

Lieutenant Commander Nafiur Rahman, Teknaf station officer of Coast Guard, said a team of Coast Guard personnel led by him waited in ambushed at north side of Teknaf land port around 2:30am after getting information that a large consignment of Yaba tablets were being smuggled from Myanmar crossing the River Naf. 

They, however, found two people walking along the Sairong Khal, a small river of Teknaf, at the moment.

The Coast Guard personnel challenged them while they fled to the deep forest dropping two bags. 

They opened the bags and recovered tablets, he added. 

A case was filed with Teknaf police station in this connection.
