Mitu’s SIM card recovered from Bhola after 8 months

The police recovered the SIM card of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu from Bhola on Tuesday, eight and a half months after she was murdered in Chittagong.
Chittagong metropolitan police additional deputy commissioner (detective branch) Md Kamruzzaman, also investigation officer of the murder case, confirmed this on Wednesday.
Mitu, wife of former superintendent of police Babul Akter, was hacked and shot dead by miscreants on June 5 last year at GEC intersection in Chittagong city while she was escorting her son, Mahir Akhter, 7, to a school bus to Chittagong Cantonment Public School and College.
‘We have recovered Mitu’s missing SIM card from a rickshaw puller at Lalmohan in Bhola. The man told us that he had found it in a Chittagong city street near Bakalia area. Later, he went back to his native Bhola district. The rickshaw puller was using the SIM card inserting it in his cell phone,’ Kamruzzaman said.
The police did not detain the man as they believed he was innocent and not involved with the murder, the IO said.
Mitu’s parents, Mosharraf Hossain and Shaheda Mosharraf, while being quizzed by the investigation officer at his office on January 26, told the officer that Mitu’s SIM card was found active and they had talked with the SIM card user several times. Mitu’s parents then requested the IO to recover the SIM card.
The investigation officer at that time told reporters that they were trying to recover it, even though it was delayed for some technical difficulties.
The police reckon that the killers took Mitu’s cell phone after attacking her. They are yet to recover the missing cell phone.
