WB’s 16 DUTY-FREE cars Customs intel seeks docs

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate on Wednesday asked the World Bank Dhaka office for detailed information and documents, including passbooks and current status, of 16 vehicles imported under duty-free benefits by its non-Bangladeshi employees as part of investigation into alleged duty evasion. 
The intelligence arm of the National Board of Revenue notified the multilateral lending agency to furnish the detailed information and documents about the employees and the vehicles in a week. 
As privileged people, World Bank employees imported the cars without duty on conditions that they would surrender the passbooks and durable goods including cars before leaving the country. 
They can sell the vehicles
