CJ apologises as SC verdicts not in Bangla

The chief justice, SK Sinha, on Tuesday apologised to the nation saying that he had failed to ensure the use of Bangla in the court proceedings in the Supreme Court.

After placing wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar and paying tribute to the 1952 Language Movement heroes, he told reports that he admitted that it was his failure to ensure the use of Bangla as the chief justice.

He said that Bangla had been introduced as the official language at all offices and some High Court judges had pronounced verdicts in Bangla so beautifully, which was unimaginable. ‘We are also trying to do this in the Appellate Division,’ he added.

Judges of the Appalliate division Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and other High Court judges and officials were also present.
