Khadiza comes home, seeks capital punishment of attacker

Sylhet Government Women’s College student Khadiza Akter Nargis, returned home from Dhaka on Friday, after 5 months after she was wounded critically in an attack by a Bangladesh Chhatra League leader, Badrul Alam.
She and her elder brother Shahin Ahmad arrived at MAG Osmani International Airport by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at noon. Accompanied by other family members, she then reached her home at Hausa village under sadar upazila. 
Khadiza, 23, told reporters at the airport that she was feeling much better as she could come home finally. 
She had been taking physiotherapy and rehabilitative medicine at the Centre for Rehabilitation of Paralysed at Savar for more than three months. 
‘I am grateful to the countrymen, they all prayed for my recovery,’ she said.
While responding to a reporter she said she wants capital punishment of Badrul who had attacked her in October. 
An accomplice, Badrul had been trying to woo Khadiza to an love affair. As he failed, he launched the attack on the young lady with a sharp knife but was caught by local people and subsequently landed in jail. 
Her elder brother Shahin Ahmad said their family is also grateful to the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, as she extended her hands for Khadiza’s medical treatment.
Her father Mashuk Miah told reporters that his daughter is supposed to appear before the chief metropolitan magistrate court in Sylhet on Sunday for the first time after the attack to get testified in the case filed over, among other charges, an attempt to murder Khadiza. 
Badrul, a fourth year economics student at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and senior assistant general secretary to the campus unit of BCL, stabbed Khadiza badly on October 3.
She was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital immediately from where she was moved to Square Hospital in Dhaka the following morning. She had her brain affected in the attack and fought long for her life at the upscale hospital.
Then she was taken to the CRP on November 28.
Her uncle Siddique Ali had filed a case with Shah Paran police against Badrul on October 4.  
The investigation officer in the case submitted the charge sheet against Badrul on November 8 and the CMM court framed charge against the man, on November 29.
