Ambassador Mijarul Quayes dies

Bangladesh ambassador to Brazil Mohamed Mijarul Quayes died of multiple organ failure at a hospital in Brasilia about 6:00am on Saturday (Bangladesh time). 
He was 57. 
Foreign ministry external affairs wing director general Lutfor Rahman confirmed the news. 
Quayes was admitted to a Brasilia hospital for kidney difficulties on February 11 and his other major organs, including lungs, gradually went out of order, foreign ministry officials said, doctors declared him dead Saturday morning. 
Born on April 2, 1960, according to official records, Quayes joined the foreign service in 1982. Before his last posting in Brazil, he served in different capacities including that of foreign secretary, high commissioner to the Maldives and the UK and ambassador to Russian Federation. 
There was no decision from the family till Saturday evening about bringing back the body, officials said. 
President Abdul Hamid, prime minister Sheikh Hasina, foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali, state minister Shahriar Alam and foreign secretary M Shahidul Haque, in separate messages, expressed condolence at the death. 
Brazil ambassador in Dhaka Wanja Campos da Nóbrega, on behalf of the Brazilian government, also expressed condolence at the death, according to a statement of the Brazil embassy. 
Quayes is survived by wife and two daughters.
