Five killed in Gaibandha road accident

At least five people including a child were killed and 10 others injured as a bus fell into a roadside ditch after it collided head-on with a truck on Dhaka-Rangpur Highway at Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha early Sunday.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident took place in Balua area around 3:00am when a Nilphamari-bound bus of Shakil Paribahan from Dhaka collided with a truck, said Gobindaganj highway police officer-in-charge Md Abul Bashar.

The bus skidded off the road and fell into the roadside ditch, leaving four people dead on the spot and 11 others injured, he said.

The injured were rushed to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex where one of them succumbed to injuries, the police official added.
