Global campaign to prevent child abuse launched

Child rights champion Kailash Satyarthi said on Sunday that access to inclusive education for all children, especially the underprivileged ones, was a must to protect their life from violence.
At the launching of the global campaign — 100 million for 100 million — at Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School in Dhaka, other dignitaries also emphasised on taking more protective measures for child domestic workers so that they could lead a safe violence-free life.
Campaign for Popular Education along with around 100 non-government organisations endorsed the campaign in Bangladesh.
While launching the campaign, Nobel laureate Kailash said, ‘I feel privileged to launch 100M for 100M campaign in Dhaka after India.’
The campaign was first initiated in 2016.
Together we can make a difference as the campaign aims to mobilise youths and children on the violence against children and promotes the rights of every child, he said.
Chaired by CAMPE executive director Rasheda K Chowdhury, the programme was also addressed by water resources minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, mass education minister Mustafizur Rahman, state minister for labour and employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu, former advisor to the caretaker government Hossain Zillur Rahman and writer Anisul Hoque.
