Power supply to four divisions resumes after four hours

Power supply to half of the country restored after more than four hours suspension due to grid failure which occurred at around 11:20am Tuesday.

Iswardi-Ghorashal and Ashuganj-Sirajganj power transmission lines restored at around 3:00pm, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh managing director Masum-Al-Beruni confirmed New Age.

He said that power supply situation had become normal in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions.

At first Iswardi-Ghorashal transmission line went out of order as a tower affected by nor’easter at around 9:00pm Monday, said officials.

The second transmission line, Ashuganj-Sirajganj line, tripped before restoration of the Iswardi-Ghorashal line leading to stop power supply in the four divisions as well as to shut down some 24 power plants in the divisions, they said.
