AL extended meeting on May 20 over polls preparation, in-party feud

The ruling Awami League will hold an extended meeting of the central committee on May 20 as part of the preparations for the next general elections and to reduce in-party feuds across the country.

Hasan Mahmud, the publicity and publication secretary of the party, on Monday at a press conference at Dhanmondi office of the party president said that the meeting will be held at Ganabhaban with the party president Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

 The district unit president, general secretaries and others important leaders will take part in the meeting and party president Sheikh Hasina will give guidelines for the  district leaders as part of the preparations for the next general elections, Hasan Mahmud said.

The members of the party presidium, advisors, members of the central committee, will take part in the meeting, Hasan added.

 Moreover, the party had chalked out programmes to observe May 17, the homecoming day of Sheikh Hasina in 1981, from abroad, after the brutal killings of Sheikh Mujib and his family members.

The central leaders of the party Muhibul Hassan Chowdhury, Aminul Islam, Delwar Hossain, Biplab Barua and others attended the press conference.
