Suicide vest, explosives, equipment found at Jhenaidah ‘extremist dens’

Bomb disposal unit of Rapid Action Battalion started drives at the suspected hideouts of extremists at village Chuadanga in Jhenaidah sadar on Tuesday noon and so far recovered two sucide vests, four powerful bombs, four bomb makin circuits and 20 dynamite sticks.

Drives at the dens are still on.

Meanwhile, the upazila nirbahi officer, Mostafizur Rahman, imposed Section 144 until further order on the spots and surrounding 500 yards. 
Residents of the area have been advised not to move within 500 yards of the spots, the UNO said.

The bomb disposal unit from Khulna arrived in the spot around 11:50am and started their drive, said Major Manir Ahmed, camp commander of RAB-6 in Jhenaidah.

The battalion personnel and local police cordoned off the two houses, owned by Salim, the brother of dead suspected extremist Tuhin, and their cousin Pranta, since early Tuesday, said the RAB official.

They also recovered two suicidal vests, four bombs near the house of Pranta, added the official.

Earlier on May 7, suspected extremist Abdullah of Neo-Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh was killed in suicidal bomb explosion while his close associate Tuhin was killed in firing during a raid at their hideout at village Bazrapur of bordering Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah.
