80pc assistant teachers to be promoted as assistant headmasters: Nahid

Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said 80 per cent assistant teachers would get an opportunity to be assistant headmasters.

‘80 per cent instead of 50 per cent assistant teachers will get promotion as assistant headmasters as the government has revised the Bangladesh Civil Service Recruitment Rules-1981,’ said the minister in replying to query from treasury bench lawmaker Qazi Nabil Ahmed in the house.

The government also has taken training programme on creative affairs for bringing creativity among the teachers while they are engaging in teaching, Nahid said, adding that around 78,000 teachers have already get training on creative affairs.

The post of assistant teachers of the government secondary schools already has upgraded to second class which would increase their social status and financial facilities, he said.
