PP’s daughter poisoned

Narayanganj public prosecutor SM Wajed Ali’s teenage daughter was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after she was allegedly poisoned at Chashara in Narayanganj Wednesday evening.
The incident came a day after the High Court on Tuesday upheld death sentences of local Awami League leader Noor Hossain and Rapid Action Battalion’s 14 personnel, including battalion commanding officer Tarek Sayeed, for killing seven people in Narayanganj in April 2014.
Wajed conducted the case as the public prosecutor against the accused.
Wajed’s brother-in-law SM Saiful Islam told New Age at the hospital that Mayeesha Wajed Prapti, 17, an A-level student, went to coaching class at Chashara Wednesday afternoon.
As she came out of the coaching centre, three to four youths waylaid Mayeesha and offered sweetmeat, saying that her father made good a deed job as the seven-murder accused were sentenced to death.
As Mayeesha refused to take the sweetmeat, the youths forced her to swallow the stuff, Saiful said.
The youths also forced her to take water after putting the stuff in her mouth, he said.
As she felt pain in the chest after swallowing the stuff, she called her father over phone.
The family later took her to 300-bed Hospital at Khanpur, where she was given primary treatment.
Later she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Hospital police outpost in-charge Baccu Miah said that the girl was taken to the hospital at about 8:15pm.
Narayanganj sadar police station officer-in-charge Mir Shaheen Shah Parvez said that they heard about the incident and taking necessary measure.
