Reduce Eid expenditure, help flood victims: BNP

Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday suggested its party men along with people of the country to reduce their expenditure during Eid-ul-Azha and urged them to spend the money for flood-affected victims.

BNP vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman, also the chief coordinator of the party-formed relief and rehabilitation committee on flood, came up with the call at a news briefing at the party’s central office at Nayapaltan in the city.

The flood-affected people of 27 districts have remained in helpless condition due to food crisis, scarcity of shelter centres, and break out of diseases, he said.

The BNP senior leader alleged that there was no initiative of the government to help the flood victims.

The party has been continuing relief and rehabilitation activities by the help of its activists and well-wishers due to the party’s financial crisis as it is not in power now, Noman added.
