Tigers set Australia 265-run target

Nathan Lyon claimed six wickets for 82 runs as Australia dismissed Bangladesh for 221 runs to set up 265-run target for them in the first Test in Dhaka on Monday.

The Tigers were all out 20 minutes into third session on the third day with Mehedi Hasan being last man dismissed for 26.

Opener Tamim Iqbal earlier led Bangladesh’s batting charge in the morning to score 78 runs, his second half-century of the match, but Bangladesh collapsed after he fell to Pat Cummins in an unlucky dismissal.

The short ball of Cummins jumped awkwardly to whistle past Tamim and umpire Aleem Dar turned down a muted appeal of the bowler before skipper Steve Smith decided for a review.

The reply indicated slight edge in Tamim’s gloves, ending his fine innings, which included eight fours.

Sakib al Hasan was perished soon for five hoisting a catch to Cummins at extra cover off Lyon but Mushfiqur Rahim stayed calm until his unfortunate run out for 41 at non striker’s end.

Lyon, who took two wickets in the morning, and Ashton Agar then took the cream out of Bangladesh’s batting dismissing Nasir Hossain (0) and Sabbir Rahman (22) respectively.

Mehedi took Bangladesh’s innings past 200-run mark, with the hosts seeking their first-ever win over Australia in what is only their fifth meeting in a Test.
