Renowned singer Abdul Jabbar dies

Renowned singer and artiste of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Abdul Jabbar died on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in the capital.

The national award winner had been suffering from kidney and heart diseases and undergoing treatment at BSMMU for around four months. 

Abdul Jabbar is known for his popular songs like Salam Salam Hajar Salam, Ore Nil Doriya, Tumi Saat Sagore Opar, Tumi Ki Dekhecho Kobu Jiboner Porajoy and others. 

He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1980 and Swadhinota Padak in 1996 for his contribution to the country’s music scene.
