Govt resorts to tricks to remove CJ Sinha: Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday claimed that the government had resorted to ‘tricks’ to remove chief justice SK Sinha.
‘People have clearly understood from what had appeared in the media about the chief justice’s leave. You (govt) are, in fact, removing him from his office by playing tricks,’ said Fakhrul Islam.
He made the comment at a commemoration meeting organised by Shahid Jehad Smriti Parishad at the National Press Club in Dhaka to mark ‘Shahid Jehad Dibash.’
Nazir Uddin Jehad, a leader of BNP-backed student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, had laid down his life on this day in 1990 during anti-autocratic movement against military ruler HM Ershad.
He said his (Sinha) ‘offense’ was that he told the truth, stood for establishing rule of law and restoring people’s rights.
He said the incumbent government destroyed all achievements of Independence War of 1971 and mass uprisings of 1990.
Finally they (government) attacked judiciary where people went seeking remedy against the government injustice, Fakhrul said.
The BNP leader said they (ruling Awami League) wanted to establish one party rule like they did in 1975.
Fakhrul said they (AL) knew that they could not return to power if the election would be held in a free and fair condition under a neutral government.
The secretary general categorically said the ‘horrible blueprint’ was made to thwart a fair election.
Fakhrul urged all, particularly the youth and students, to get ready to do more sacrifice to attain victory.
Presided over by former Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) vice-president Amanullah Aman, also convenor of the Jehad Smriti Parishad, the commemoration meeting addressed, among others, by former All Party Student Unity of 1990 leaders
Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Asaduzzaman Ripon,  Habibur Rahman Habib, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Nazim Uddin Alam, Mustafizur Rahman Babul, Saifuddin Ahmed Moni and Fazlul Huq Milon.
