EC to deploy army during polls, not to use EVM

The Election Commission has a plan to deploy army in the next general election but the form of the functioning of the troops is yet to be decided.
Talking to reporters at the commission Monday evening, election commissioner Mahabub Talukder also said that the commission had already decided not to use the Electronic Voting Machine in the 11th parliamentary polls.
The commissioner came up with the remarks in a day after Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia at a rally on Sunday demanded deployment of army with magistracy in the next polls.
Mahabub said that the issue would be finalised at the commission meeting and how the army would work during the polls would be decided later.
