Fisheries minister Sayedul Hoque laid to rest

Fisheries and livestock minister and veteran Awami League leader Muhammed Sayedul Hoque, who breathed his last on Saturday, was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at his ancestral home at village Purbabhag under Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbaria Sunday evening.
He was buried after his third namaz-e-janaza at Purbabhag SESDP Model High School ground where his relatives, locals, party leaders, activists and well-wishers paid tribute to his departed soul.
Sayedul Hoque, also a Liberation War organiser and a close political aide of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital on Saturday at about 8:30am, said the ministry’s public relation officer Md Shah Alam. 
He was 75. He left behind his wife and son to mourn his death.
Sayedul, five times Awami League lawmaker from Brahmanbaria -1 constituency, was born in Nasirnagar on March 4, 1942. 
The popular AL leader had been suffering from fever, urine infection and physical weakness for long and he was undergoing treatment at BSMMU, a press release issued by the university’s public relations office said. 
The first namaz-e-janaza of Sayedul Hoque was held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 10:10am and the second namaz-e-janaza was held at Ashutosh Pilot High School ground at Nasirnagar around noon.
Thousands of people from all walks of life, including political, social and cultural personalities, joined the janaza and paid their last tributes to the veteran AL leader, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent.
Before his first namaz-e-janaza, he was given state honours.
President Md Abdul Hamid, prime minister Sheikh Hasina, speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, deputy speaker Md Fazley Rabbi Mia, AL leaders on behalf of his party, AL lawmaker Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury and whips on behalf of the parliamentary party of AL, opposition party whip Md Nurul Islam on behalf of the leader of the opposition placed wreaths on the coffin of the late minister.
Later, president, deputy speaker, ministers, lawmakers, senior leaders of Awami League and other political parties, well-wishers, officials and employees of the Jatiya Sangsad attended his first namaz-e-janaza.
Sayedul was made the fisheries and livestock minister after Awami League formed the government in 2014.
