People won’t support war criminals’ patrons: PM

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said that people would not allow the patrons of war criminals to assume office anymore.
‘People will never allow the patrons of war criminals to assume office as they will not vote the war criminals and miscreants who have burned people to death,’ Hasina said at a discussion in Dhaka.
The ruling Awami League organised the programme at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day and the Victory Day.
Hasina, also the Awami League president, alleged that the usurper had no feeling for the country and its people and they only devoted themselves in looting and siphoning off money.
Referring to the acts of violence during Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s movement for foiling the 2014 national polls, the prime minister alleged that people were burnt to death under the directive of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
She said that news reports were published featuring wealth of Zia family abroad, including shopping malls and thousand crore takas. 
‘They are again dreaming for assuming office and doing politics. Do people, who want progress of the country, can support them,’ she posed a question.
Hinting at the BNP leadership, the prime minister said that they were looters and destroyers of the country.
She also warned anarchists not to create troubles for the people. ‘We will no more allow anyone to play ducks and drakes with the fate of the people.’
Hasina said that the BNP was formed with the family members of war criminals and it inducted war criminals into the cabinet.
‘How do you talk about the country’s independence while running the party with the support of the war criminals,’ she asked BNP.
Mentioning the ongoing development works, the prime minister said that the country became a role model of development as AL was in office.
AL general secretary Obaidul Quader said, ‘The next general elections will be held in next December. We have to remain united to ensure victory in polls.’
AL advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu said that people would not support the anti-liberation political forces in the next general election.
He called upon all the pro-liberation political forces to be united to support the AL-led alliance in assuming office again.
Another advisory council member Tofail Ahmed expressed fear that the country would face various conspiracies before the next general elections.
‘But the Awami League will win in the elections foiling all the conspiracies,’ he said.
Presidium member Matia Chowdhury said that a record number of people took to the street this year to celebrate Victory Day.
She hoped that the people resist the anti-liberation political forces in the country.
Sheikh Fazkul Karim Selm, another presidium member, called on the pro-liberation political forces to be united to resist the anti-liberation political forces so that the quarter could not assume office in future.
Martyred intellectual’s son journalist Shaheen Reza Noor said that the Pakistani occupation forces killed intellectuals to make Bangladesh a failed state.
AL leaders Mrinal Kanti Dash, Fazilatunnesa Indira, Dhaka City unit general secretaries Shahe Alam Murad and Sadek Khan, among other, spoke at the discussion meeting, conducted by Hasan Mahmud and Aminul Islam.
