Reshuffle in cabinet likely today

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to reshuffle her cabinet inducting several new faces today in the concluding year of the government’s five-year tenure.
Awami League insiders and Cabinet Division officials said on Monday evening that preparation was going on for administering oath to new ministers Tuesday afternoon at Bangabhaban, the official residence of the president.
This would be the third reshuffle in the cabinet since the present government assumed office following the January 5, 2014 elections boycotted by all the opposition political parties.
A senior official at the Cabinet Division said that they invited state minister for fisheries and livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda, AL lawmaker from Laxmipur-3 AKM Shahjahan Kamal, party lawmaker from Rajbari 1 Kazi Keramat Ali and IT expert Mustafa Jabbar to remain present at Bangabhaban on Tuesday evening.
Narayan Chandra Chanda and AKM Shahgahan Kamal both confirmed that cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam called them on Monday and requested them to be present at Bangabhaban at 6:30pm on Tuesday.
They also said they would carry out whatever responsibilities they would be given with sincerity.
Mustafa Jabbar refused to make any comments saying, ‘You will be able to know everything officially.’
Kazi Keramat Ali was, however, not found available for comment till 8:30pm.
There are now 30 ministers, 17 state ministers and two deputy ministers in the cabinet.
