ALLEGATION OF HARASSING WOMAN DIG Mizan withdrawn

The police headquarters on Tuesday withdrew deputy inspector general of police Mizanur Rahman after a woman reportedly accused him of forcibly marrying her at gunpoint and torturing her.
Assistant inspector general Seheli Ferdaus said that Mizanur had been withdrawn from Dhaka Metropolitan Police and was attached to the police headquarters.
Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that the police would look into the allegations of harassments raised by the woman against Mizanur.
‘Nobody is above the law. Stern action will be taken if he is found guilty,’ the minister said.
The woman told media that Mizanur, also an additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, forcibly picked her up from her Panthapath residence adjacent to Square Hospital. He then kept her confined to his Bailey Road residence for three days and forcibly married her in presence of her mother on July 17, 2017.
Mizanur dismissed the allegation.
