We proved capacity to develop country: PM

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said that the Awami League-led government proved its capacity to develop the country.
‘Whenever we came to power, we tried to develop the country and we proved that we can develop the country,’ she told parliament while speaking on the thanks giving motion on the president’s speech.
After her speech, the motion was passed unanimously.
Hasina, also the ruling Awami League president, said that Bangladesh would achieve the status of developing country in March.
‘We are a heroic nation. We cannot remain under the status of middle income
country as we are working to turn the country a developed one by 2041,’ she said.
The prime minister criticised the post 1975 governments accusing them of taking no move to resolve the disputes with India.
‘No government have taken any move to resolve the dispute with India over land boundary. But we solved the dispute. We have set an example,’ she said.
Speaking on the motion, industries minister Amir Hossain Amu said that those who did not accept the achievements of the government were hatching plots against the government.
‘There will be no result by hatching conspiracies. The people remain united under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina,’ he said.
Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said that Sheikh Mujibur Rahmna gave the independence but 
got no time to make the country’s economic emancipation.
‘But his daughter prime minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the country to the zenith of success. She has been working to make the country free from hunger and poverty,’ he said.
Tofail said that the country had been free from extremism and it had been praised across the globe.
Hinting at the BNP leader Moudud Ahmed, he said that the BNP leader said the popularity of Khaleda Zia would increase as long as she remained in jail.
‘Then why are you going to the court for her bail? If your leader becomes more popular being in jail, keep her in jail,’ he said.
Chief whip ASM Feroz said that some ruling party activists had been involved in misdeeds to tarnish the image of the party.
‘I request the administration to take action against those who are involved in misdeeds,’ he said.
He also asked the government to take measures to stop question leaks.
