BNP holds human chain for Khaleda’s release

As part of its countrywide programme, Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Tuesday formed human chain in Dhaka city demanding ‘unconditional’ release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.

The human chain led by BNP senior leaders including Mirza Abbas started in front of the National Press Club around 11:00am.

The human chain is scheduled to be continued for an hour.

Additional police are deployed in the area.

Earlier, BNP held a series of programmes in phases including countrywide demonstrations, human chain, sit-in, token hunger strike, mass signature campaign and submission of memorandum to deputy commissioners in protest against the ‘politically motivated’ verdict in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case where Khaleda was sentenced to five years jail on February 8.
