Muhith calls businessmen greedy

Finance minister AMA Muhith on Sunday censured businessmen calling them greedy as they intend to avoid taxes.

‘The businessmen always want to do business without paying taxes,’ he told reporters while commenting on the new customs act and the much talked about VAT law at a meeting with the Association of Customs and Taxation cadres at the secretariat.

The bill on new customs act is expected to be placed in parliament in the next fiscal while the government has kept pending the implementation of the VAT act until 2019 because of opposition from businessmen after enacting the VAT act in 2012

Muhith said there is no instance in the world like that of the local businessmen.
