BNP to contest Khulna, Gazipur mayoral polls: Fakhrul

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday decided to take part in the elections to Khulna and Gazipur city corporations scheduled for May 15 as ‘part of the movement.’
A meeting of senior BNP leaders at a meeting at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office made the decision.
After the meeting that lasted for more than two hours from about 7:00pm, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told journalists that BNP would take part in the mayoral polls as part of their ongoing movement.
Standing committee members, vice-chairmen, BNP chairperson’s advisory council members, joint secretaries general, organising secretaries, among others, attended the meeting.
The Election Commission on Sunday announced that the mayoral polls to the cities of Gazipur and Khulna would be held on May 15.
