Baki strikes silver in C’wealth Games

Shooter Abdullah Hel Baki retained the silver medal in men’s 10-metre air rifle event of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games after a nail-biting final series at the Belmont Shooting Range on Sunday.
Baki narrowly missed gold medal as a simple 10.1 could be enough for him to ensure the gold but Baki, who showed a great temperament all through the final, lost his concentrate in the very last shot and scored just 9.7 that allowed the Australian shooter Dane Sampson to win the ultimate medal.
Baki, who became sixth in the qualification with a total score of 616.00, had to remain content with silver after scoring 244.7 points, just three behind of Sampson, who gave Baki a great opportunity after shooting just 9.5 in the last shot of the last series.
This is first medal for Bangladesh in the ongoing meet and only seventh for the country in history of Commonwealth Games, which all came from shooting.
Baki also won silver medal in 10-metre air rifle in the previous Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , 2014.
