Abduction of three youths: Hartal underway in Khagrachhari

A dawn-to-dusk hartal enforced by Parbatya Bangali Chhatra Parishad is underway in Khagrachhari on Monday demanding immediate rescue of three abducted Bengali youths.

On Friday last, the parishad gave an ultimatum to rescue the youths within Sunday. As police failed to rescue the youths, they enforced the hartal.

Long-route bus communication remained suspended due to the hatal. Meanwhile, picketing was reported in different areas of the district.

The plying of CNG-run auto rickshaws and human haulers was also limited.

Besides, security measures have been strengthened to avoid any untoward incident.

Two timber traders- Md Mohoram Ali and Md Salauddin and pick-up van driver Bahar Miah went missing when they went to buy timber from Maischhari area in Mohalchhari upazila on April 16.
