Ward councillor Ekramul killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Teknaf ward councillor Ekramul Haque, also a Awami Juba League leader, was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion during the ongoing anti-drug drive at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar early Sunday.
RAB-7 crimes prevention company-2 commander Ruhul Amin told New Age that a gunfight took place at Noakhali para of Teknaf early Sunday when they raided the area on secret information as a part of their ongoing anti-drug drives.
Battalion members found the body of Ekramul from the spot and seized 10,000 Yaba pills, a pistol, a one-shooter gun and six bullets after the gunfight, he claimed.
He alleged that Ekramul was a listed top drug peddler.
