Bulbul begins sit in at a Rajshahi centre

Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s mayoral candidate for Rajshahi city corporation Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul began sit in at Islamia College polling centre at Binodpur in Rajshahi protesting at irregularities in election.

Bulbul said he began sit in at Islamia College polling centre at 11:30am and would continue till the end of the polls.

He said he found none of his poling agents at the centre and came to know that the ballots for mayoral election were finished.

The centres presiding officer Abdullah M Shafi said it is not true that the mayoral ballots have been finished. ‘Till 1:00pm only 900 out of 2,284 votes were cast,’ he said.

On absence of polling agents, the presiding officer said if one claims to be polling agent of one candidate and fails to show any appointment letter, they cannot be allowed to stay in the centre.  ‘Six to seven people came and there was no signature on appointment letter one of them. So we did not allow him to in.  What can we do in the polling agents leave the centre,’ he said.
