Home minister assures students of meeting all demands

Accepting their demands, home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday called upon agitating students to return to classrooms from the streets.

After a meeting with leaders in the road transport sector, the minister told reporters at the secretariat that government   would take all out measures from today to implement the demands of the students ensuring the roads are safe for all and the traffic rules are maintained.

Shipping minister Shajahan Khan, also executive president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation and information minister Hasanul Haque Inu were also present, among others.  

Asaduzzaman said the authorities would ensure no buses and trucks would be allowed to run without fitness certificate and driving license.

Hundreds of students are demonstrating in the capital and other parts of the country for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday protesting at the killing of two college students in a road crash on Airport Road on Sunday.
