Accused of Akifa murder held in Faridpur

A team of Rapid Action Battalion-8 on Sunday arrested the bus owner of Faisal Ganjeraj Paribahan over the death of 8-month-old Akifa Khatun, who was killed when a bus belonging to the company hit her on August 28.

RAB-8 commander, also additional superintendent of police, Md Rois Uddin, said Jainal Abedin, 63, was arrested from his home in Jhiltuli area in Faridpur town at 5:30am.

Later, police handed over him to Kustia sadar police station.

Akifa was injured critically after she fell from her mother Rina Khatun’s arms as a bus of the Faisal Ganjeraj Paribahan hit them when they were crossing the road at Chourohas in Kushtia town on August 28. Later, she succumbed to her injuries on August 30 while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
