Bikalpadhara not in unity having ties with anti-liberation forces: B Chy

Bikalpadhara Bangladesh on Saturday announced that the party would not be in the newly floated Jatiya Oikya Front as its two conditions were not met.
Bikalpadhara president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, also chairman of Juktafront, made the announcement at a news conference at his Baridhara residence in the capital around 6:30pm.
He said their first condition was that national unity would be formed only with pro-independence forces excluding the anti-independence forces who still did not accept Bangladesh and its map.
Their second condition was working out a system in which no party would get absolute majority in parliament polls so 150 seats should be the limit for a party for a balance of politics and power, Badruddoza Chowdhury said.
On the incident of not finding Jatiya Oikya Prokriya convener Kamal Hossain at his Bailey Road residence after he was invited there Saturday afternoon, Badruddoza said he got the invitation Friday night but did not find Kamal at his residence going there around 3:30pm.
He said main door of Kamal’s residence was closed and none was present to receive him. Waiting about 10 minutes, he along with his party’s secretary general returned to his Baridhara house.
B Chowdhury said Kamal could have phoned him about his preoccupation and requested him to have a cup of tea at his residence.
The Bikalpadhara president said they still would want national unity.
Reading out the Bikalpadhara statement, secretary general Abdul Mannan said those who wanted to demolish the unity were now exposed to the nation.
He cautioned that Bikolpodhara would not allow anybody to mislead the nation by sitting in any meeting with BNP in the name of national unity.
He said Bikalpadhara would not be involved in any conspiracy only to bring BNP to power until any clear announcement from BNP that it would build autocracy-free Bangladesh on the basis of balance in parliament and sever its ties with anti-independence forces.
He said the country’s former president Badruddoza Chowdhury reached Kamal’s house around 3:30pm but he was not present at the house and none was present to open the door.
He wondered what type of courtesy this was.
Kamal Hossain was holding a meeting with leaders of BNP, JSD and Nagorik Oikya at his Motijheel law chamber from noon to until afternoon on Saturday, he said.
Asked about his involvement in the government of BNP-Jamaat in 2001, B Chowdhury said to err is human and he had already sought ‘apology’ for this.
In reply to a question, he said Jatiya Oikya Prokriya breached the conditions of joint declaration of Juktafront and Jatiya Oikya Prokriya.
In reply to a question, Bikolpodhara joint secretary general Mahi B Chowdhury said that Bikolpodhara still did not step aside from the unity process, saying that if they (Jatiya Oikya Front) thought they had dropped Bikolpodhara, they should make an announcement of it.
He claimed that Bikolpodhara would lead Juktafront.
Mahi said Bikopodhara was in dark about the Saturday’s meeting at Gano Forum president Kamal Hossian’s chamber.
Meanwhile Bkiolpodhara on Saturday expelled its vice-president Shah Ahmed Badal and agriculture affairs secretary Zane Alam Hawlader for violating the party’s discipline, said B Chowdhury’s press secretary Jahangir Alam.
