HC passes split order on Khaleda’s candidature

A two-judge High Court bench on Tuesday passed a split order on candidature of jailed Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khalea Zia for upcoming11th general election on December 30.

Senior judge of the bench Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed qualified Khaleda Zia in the elections with her appeal against conviction pending for hearing while junior judge Justice Md Iqbal Kabir disqualified her as candidate after she was convicted in two cases by the trial court.

Now, the chief justice will assign third judge for settling dispute over Khaleda’s candidature, said her lawyer Nawshad Jamir.
