Rain brings misery to Ctg residents

Rain brought misery to the residents of Chattogram city on the first day of monsoon on Saturday with light showers of thirty minutes and thunderbolts.

Saturday was the first day of Bangla month Ashar and the welcome rain offered city dwellers a big relief from the scorching heat.

The half an hour rain submerged the low lying areas of the port city.

Patenga Met Office recorded 19 millimetre rains from 1:30pm to 2:00pm on Saturday noon.

Different roads of Muradpur, Sholoshohor, Shulakbahar, Chawkbazar, Khatunganj, Agrabad CDA were flooded with rain water, which caused severe tailback.

Miraj Ahmed, a resident of Shulakbahar area, said that crores of money was spent on waterlogging project but that went in vain.

He said that during monsoon the roads of their areas went under knee deep water after a mild rain.
