Filmmaker rescued after 11 days of abduction

Former state minister of home affairs Tanzim Ahmed Sohel Taj’s nephew Syed Iftekhar Alam Sourav, a student of media and communication at Independent University Bangladesh and a filmmaker, was rescued from a location at Tarakanda upazila in Mymensingh early Thursday, 11 days after his abduction.
‘Some people threw him from a vehicle in Madhupur Bottola area of Tarakanda at about 5:30am on Thursday and we rescued him from there,’ Tarakanda police officer in charge Md Mizanur Rahman Akanda told New Age.
According to the victim’s family, Sourav was picked up by a group of plainclothes men on June 9, around 7:00pm from in front of Afmi Plaza in Chattogram city.
Panchlaish police station sub-inspector Riten Saha said that on June 10, victim’s father Idris Alam filed a complaint with the station over his missing son.
The complaint read that Sourav was picked by a group of unknown people from in front of Afmi Plaza after he was asked to go there with his curriculum vitae to apply for a job.
Additional deputy police commissioner Mizanur Rahman said that they had been conducting raid in different areas.
The victim’s elder brother Tanvir Shahriar Samrat said that they had given all necessary information about Sourav to the police but they were yet to find him.
The family alleged that he was abducted for having an affair with daughter of a renowned businessman in Chattogram.
