Modi phones Hasina, extends Eid greetings

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi called his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina over phone on Monday and greeted her on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.

‘The Indian premier phoned the Bangladesh prime minister at about 5:45pm and extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to her and the people of Bangladesh,’ prime minister’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.

During the five-minute telephone conversation, the Bangladesh prime minister also extended Eid greetings to Modi and the people of India, he said.

The Bangladesh prime minister premier wished continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of India.

Modi also wished continued peace, progress and development of the people of Bangladesh, the press secretary said.
